Decorating Idea

I do the Food and Fellowship Hall decorating for the Youth Services at our church. If you know me, you know I love this and take it seriously ;) We have Youth service every last Sat of the month, and serve food afterwards.
So this month I had to decorate it. I thought a lot about what I could decorate with that would make it more personable for everybody. I wanted the Youth to feel like it was THEIRS, and I wanted a way for the church to connect to each of the youth. But How to tie that in with decorating, I wasn't sure. Here is what I came up with.

Testimony side(picture on the other side)

Big Vases with 3

Small Vases with 1, This is Ethans ;)

Partial View (Pardon the Christmas decor, it was already there)

So I think it turned out pretty cute, and everybody seemed to like it. What I like best is that the kids all gave me testimonies, and I got to read the whole paper. I had to pick out a few sentences to put on the small circles. Some make me cry, some made me laugh, but all of them made me remember my own youth. Yes, we all make mistakes, we all fail, and we all need for somebody to pick us back up, we all need for somebody to believe in us when we don't believe in ourselves. And sometimes, when we're to shy to say what's on our hearts, a written testimony is just that. They wrote these from their heart and that is the personal, unifying "decor" I was looking for ;) I love it. If your interested I will post how I did it.

  1. I forgot to mention the LOW cost of these.... the Vases were $0.97ea, the tissue paper pom pom flowers were $0.22ea., the Paper was scrap book paper cut out using a cricuit(sp?) and donated, and the colored balls were $2per pack, the Photo Clips I made from 20gage wire that cost under $3 I used 2-3 of these for all the vases. The pictures were donated by parents or I took them myself and bought them off Walmart's web site.
